Frequently Asked Questions

Competitor conflicts, data privacy, fees, and what your merchants will experience — all answered.

Merchant Processor Partner Resources

Conflicts & Relationships
Does T.A.G. compete with my existing MCA ISO relationships?

T.A.G. is an MCA broker/ISO — not a payment processor. The referral program adds revenue to your processing business rather than replacing any existing relationship.

If you have existing MCA ISO agreements with exclusivity clauses, review those before participating. T.A.G. can discuss partnership structures that work within most ISO agreement frameworks. Contact the partner team to discuss.

Does referring a merchant risk my processing relationship with them?

The referral is designed to strengthen the relationship, not disrupt it. You are presenting a resource that helps your merchant grow or manage cash flow — merchants that receive capital often process higher volume. The introduction is framed as a service, not a financial product sale.

The key is framing: use the scripts in the Partner Toolkit to keep introductions low-pressure and relationship-appropriate.

Data & Privacy
Do I need to share my merchant's processing data with T.A.G.?

No. You never share processing data with T.A.G. Your processing data is used only by you — for your own internal pre-screening — to decide whether to make an introduction.

When a merchant applies, they provide their own bank statements directly to T.A.G. as part of the standard application process. Nothing is shared from your side of the relationship.

Fees & Payment
Who pays the referral fee — me, T.A.G., or the merchant?

T.A.G. pays the referral fee from its own compensation on the transaction. The merchant does not pay more because a referral partner is involved. The merchant's funding cost is based on their business profile, not the referral arrangement.

When and how is my referral fee paid?

You are notified when your referred merchant funds. T.A.G. pays your fee — 2–5% of the funded advance — within 5 business days of the funding date. Payment is made via ACH or check. A 1099-NEC is provided at year end for income over $600.

Merchant Qualification & Experience
Can I refer merchants who already have an existing MCA?

Yes, with qualifications. Merchants with 1–2 existing MCA positions may still qualify, depending on their remaining balance and monthly revenue. Use the Client Qualification Checklist to assess. Merchants with 3+ stacked positions are generally not fundable and should not be referred.

What does my merchant experience after I make the introduction?

T.A.G. contacts your merchant directly to walk them through the application. Typical process:

  • Short application — under 15 minutes to complete
  • Request for 3–4 months of bank statements
  • Underwriting decision in 24–48 hours
  • Offer presented with full terms before any agreement signed
  • Funds deposited to business bank account — typically 3–5 business days

T.A.G. does not contact your merchant about their processing relationship or cross-sell any service that competes with your business. The merchant relationship stays yours.

What if my merchant is not approved?

If your referred merchant is not approved, no fee is paid and there is no impact on your partner status. T.A.G. handles the decline process directly with the merchant.

To minimize declines, pre-screen using the Client Qualification Checklist before referring. Your processing data gives you significant pre-screening capability before any introduction is made.
