Quick Answer

Yes. When a Social Security Number or Federal Tax ID is submitted as part of an application, it is stored encrypted at rest in T.A.G.'s database, not as plain text. The application fails to start in production if the encryption key required to do this is missing or malformed.

Trust & Security

How We Protect Your Documents

A business funding application asks for real financial documents — bank statements, sometimes an SSN or Tax ID. Here is specifically what happens to them.

Sensitive fields are encrypted, not stored as plain text

When a Social Security Number or Federal Tax ID is collected as part of an application, it is stored encrypted at rest in T.A.G.'s database rather than as readable plain text. This is enforced at the application level: in production, the system will not start at all if the encryption key required for this is missing or malformed, rather than silently falling back to storing that data unprotected.

Your documents go to underwriting — not to marketing lists

Bank statements and application documents you upload are used to prepare your funding file and are shared with the funding partners your file is submitted to for review. They are not sold, and they are not used for purposes unrelated to evaluating your application.

The initial review is a soft credit pull

Checking your options with T.A.G. uses a soft credit pull, which does not affect your credit score. If a hard pull ever occurs, it would happen later in the process — before a final funding decision, not at the point of application — and you would know before it happens.

Transmission is encrypted in transit

The application and document upload portal are served over HTTPS, meaning data submitted through the site is encrypted in transit between your browser and T.A.G.'s servers.

What we don't claim

We are not going to describe our security posture in vaguer, more impressive-sounding terms than we can back up. We do not hold a specific third-party security certification (such as SOC 2) today, and we won't imply otherwise. If that changes, this page will be updated to reflect it — not before.

Questions about a specific document

If you have a specific question about how your file, statements, or personal information were handled, contact Carlos directly rather than waiting on a support queue.
