Bookkeeper Referral Guide

When to bring it up, how to make the introduction, and what to say.

Bookkeeper Partner Resources

1

Register as a Partner

Go to /affiliate and complete the partner registration. You'll receive your unique referral link immediately. Takes 5 minutes.

2

Spot the Signal During Your Monthly Review

You don't need to wait for clients to ask — the signals are in their numbers. Look for these patterns during your regular reconciliation or monthly review:

  • Average daily balance below 10 days of operating expenses
  • Deposit velocity slowing — fewer deposits per week than prior months
  • Payroll or supplier payments getting delayed
  • Revenue up but cash tight — working capital constraint on growth
  • Client entering a slow season without adequate cash reserves
  • Client just signed a large contract but materials/labor needed upfront
You don't need the client to tell you they need capital. You already have the information. That's your advantage.
3

Use the Client Qualification Checklist

Before introducing any client, run through the Client Qualification Checklist. As their bookkeeper, you have a unique advantage: you already have most of this information. A 2-minute check prevents a bad referral experience.

4

Introduce It Naturally in Your Monthly Conversation

The most effective time is during the monthly review when you're discussing the numbers. Frame it as a proactive observation, not a sales pitch.

5

Follow Up by Email with Your Referral Link

6

Receive Your Referral Fee

2–5% of the funded advance amount, paid within 5 business days. Annual 1099-NEC provided for amounts over $600.

Bookkeepers who make proactive referrals typically see higher approval rates than average — because they screen clients using actual financial data rather than guessing.
